Addition of Encrypted ID Could Prevent Cyber Crime

With newly added verification information, Internet users are insured of the legitimacy of websites they visit. The newly created Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) are pieces of encrypted code that protect each domain name structure (DNS). The technology was developed by ICANN, VeriSign, and the US Department of Commerce. The organizations say this simple information will prevent hackers from creating phishing websites used to trick users into downloading malware-laden files or entering personal information. Engineers have reportedly been working on DNSSEC for 18 years. It will still take time for DNSSEC to be adopted and deployed throughout the world. (RedOrbit)(ICANN|Press Release)(ICANN)
