UK Launches Massive Online-Learning Program

A group of UK-based universities has started a massive open online courses website now  in open beta. Two international and 23 three British universities are participating in the FutureLearn alliance. Future Learn is backed by the Open University, a British public distance-learning and research university founded by royal charter.  Project partners include the British Council, the British Library, and the British Museum. FutureLearn will offer eight classes between October and December 2013. The open beta is scheduled to run through early 2014. The new effort will compete with established US based online programs such as the Khan Academy, Udacity, and Coursera. (SlashDot)(TechCrunch)(FutureLearn)
