US Lawmaker: Let Congress Telecommute

Rep. Steve Pearce (R-NM) wants congressional members to be able to work remotely. He has put forward a resolution that would allow legislators to use videoconferencing and other technologies that would allow them to conduct their daily tasks – attend hearings, debate matters, and enter votes – from their home district rather than requiring them to be in Washington, DC.  He contends this would help make legislators more accountable to their constituents and eliminate travel expenses. He added that it would also physically remove congressional members from the influence of lobbyists. According to TheHill website, an identical resolution was made by Pearce in the previous congressional session. (SlashDot)(TheHill)
