Researchers Use Modified Google Algorithm in Cancer Studies

German researchers have modified Google’s Page Rank Web-search algorithm to better understand cancer. They are using the new algorithm to scan tumors and learn more about how cancers progress. They use the algorithm to uncover how genes and proteins in a cell are connected through a network of interactions with their neighbors. The information helps the scientists better identify the most relevant genes for predicting possible pancreatic-cancer treatment outcomes.
