Social Learning

In recent years, social behavioral data have been exponentially expanding due to the tremendous success of various outlets on the social Web (aka Web 2.0) such as Facebook, Digg, and Twitter. AI's 10 to Watch and the Hall of Fame

IEEE Intelligent Systems is seeking the 2010 class of top young AI researchers. To be eligible, candidates must have received their PhD in AI or a related field no earlier than 1 January 2005. To nominate someone, please send a pointer to their Web page, a short description of their work and qualifications (two paragraphs maximum), and a list of up to 10 major publications or achievements to feiyue@ieee.org by 1 August 2010 (put “10 to Watch” in the subject line). Past lists are available at www.computer.org/isystems/ai10-2006 and www.computer.org/isystems/ai10-2008.

We’d also like to use the 25th birthday of IEEE Intelligent Systems to recognize our senior researchers and pioneers for their lifetime of accomplishments and contributions to our field. To that end, we are creating the IEEE Intelligent Systems Hall of Fame. To nominate someone, send a one-page bio-sketch and curriculum vitae to feiyue@ieee.org by 1 August 2010 (put “Hall of Fame” in the subject line).

We’ll announce the award winners and inductees and introduce their contributions in the November/December 2010 issue. For more information, email lead editor Dale Strok (dstrok@computer.org).
