This report summarises the content and results of the 1st InternationalWorkshop on Design Pattern Theory and Practice, held during the 3rd IEEE Software Technology and Engineering Practice workshop series (STEP?05), in Budapest, Hungary, on the Morning of the 25th of September 2005.
The main goals of the workshop was to define open practical problems in the field of software engineering related to design patterns [1], with the aim to devise a theory to solve these problems and to foster interaction among the international community.
