The recent interest in sensor networks has led to a number of clustering and routing schemes that use the limited resources available at sensor nodes more efficiently. In this paper, we introduce policy into such a power-limited, cluster-based environment to enhance the flexibility and efficiency of energy-aware clustering and routing schemes in wireless sensor networks. We explain the implementation of policies in detail and simulation results are also provided to evaluate the performance of policy interference.
