A task in Manufacturing Grid (MG) must be decomposed into many subtasks, so as to match every subtask with a manufacturing resource, and make the subtasks working effectively using the geographically distributed, heterogeneous manufacturing resources in synchronization. Since the complexity of the manufacturing tasks, it is impossible for us to decompose the manufacturing tasks with an automatic way completely. The authors believe that task decomposing is an application middleware in MG and propose a QoS-based task decomposing approach of combining automation with manpower, i.e. searching Successful Case Database (SCD)..decomposing a task with Global Process Planning (GPP) template, and tasks decomposed by a project manager and an expert.
