One of the challenges in ubiquitous computing is how effectively network substrates deliver and filter information fed by an information-rich environment. In this paper, we review the challenges that existing multicast protocols are facing in a ubiquitous computing environment and propose a new scheme — called "tunecast" — to give an alternative perspective in designing the network substrate for the future environment.
