Commercial Off-The-Shelf Simulation Packages (CSPs) are widely used in industry to perform standalone simulations. A lack of widespread demand for distributed simulation within the industry has meant that there are few commercially available options for end user simulation modellers. However, from time to time, the simulation modeller is faced with a problem to which distributed simulation can provide a viable alternative solution. One such problem is the basis of our current work involving creation of a distributed simulation federation using the CSP Simul8 and the High Level Architecture (HLA). It is collaboration between the modellers and the members of the CSP Interoperability Product Development Group (CSPI-PDG).
