To Internet-based applications, the Domain Name System (DNS) is no more than a look-up service for IP addresses. Unfortunately, the DNS has few security safeguards, which has serious consequences for e-commerce. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has recently developed a specification and associated protocol to address DNS security issues.
