Salute the Broadcast Flag

A new FCC rule would require all digital TV recorders made after July 2005 to recognize and obey a signal or marker in programs--the broadcast flag--that will restrict users from copying or distributing digital content. The rule has sparked debate between the Motion Picture Association of America and its allies, and those who fear such rules will limit technology development.
