During an architectural assessment, Booch says, it's important to be truthful as well as gentle. He describes a few pitfalls, promises, complexities, and contradictions he's come across. He also notes the development organization's unique task—to address all the essential concerns of all the important stakeholders and avoid being blindsided by unexpected problems and stakeholders.
