Because of its global system nature, energy consumption is a major challenge of computer systems design. ECOSystem incorporates the currentcy model, which lets the operating system manage energy as a first-class resource. ECOSystem accurately accounts for the energy that asynchronous device operation consumes and can express complex energy-related goals and behaviors, leading to more effective, unified management policies.
