In this paper we present a novel concept and methodology for generating tailored communication protocols specific to an application?s requirements and the operating environment for a mobile node roaming among different access networks within the global Internet. Since the scheme that we present employs a universal technique, it can be also deployed in smallscale independent networks such as sensor networks to generate application-specific lightweight transport protocols as is appropriate to its energy-constrained operating environments. We present preliminary experimental and analytical results that confirm and justify the feasibility of our method based on a practical example applicable to the sensor network environment.
