The automobile became the world's dominant transport mode in the last century. As the demand for automobile transport continues to grow, so do toxic emissions and accidents. One solution is to remove the driver from the control loop by fully automating vehicle driving functions. The European CityMobil project is implementing various solutions in several European cities to demonstrate this approach. The project includes various forms of automation in car-sharing vehicles, buses, and cybercars.
