As traditional information-processing methodologies become obsolete, agent technology provides a framework for integrating knowledge and production and coping with demands efficiently. A new set of methodologies has helped create an architecture that might lead to systems that operate with survivability, dynamic reconfiguration, and reduced human supervision.
