Human-centered distributed information design incorporates the theory of distributed cognition with the need for multiple levels of analyses in system design. This methodology provides systematic principles, guidelines, and procedures for designing HCC systems. The authors selected electronic medical records systems to demonstrate their methodology because HCC is almost nonexistent in EMR systems.
