Spatial database servers allow for the storage and access of 3D geospatial data using Open Geospatial Consortium standards. The Geospatial Database Online Visualization Environment (GeoDOVE) is a prototype 3D Web-based geographic information system that demonstrates how Java3D can reduce bandwidth and allow direct connectivity to spatially enabled database systems. 1.
