We propose enhancements to the IEEE 802.11e protocol in order to provide fairness for non-real time applications while providing QoS for real-time traffic. The enhancements are based on a contention-free polling access scheme. The M/M/1 and M/G/1 queuing systems are used to model the 802.11e and our proposed scheme respectively. Preliminary analytical results show that the proposed scheme reduces delay for both types of traffic.
