This paper presents a novel software framework and methodology to run applications on an interactive whiteboard. A new type of application called "Chalklets" has been designed. Chalklets use the chalkboard as an interface metaphor replacing the desktop. This allows the seamless integration of educational mini applications into electronic-whiteboard-supported lectures. This article describes the framework, presents a number of Chalklets, and discusses the concept, using the example of a Chalklet for simulating logic circuits sketched on the whiteboard.
