The paper treats the inclusion of closed-loop control to overcome the problems of traditional openloop image processing. The specifics and benefit of closed-loop control in image processing are considered throughout the demonstration of results achieved for recognition of 3D characters on metallic surfaces. The extension of classical recognition system with threshold adjustment closed-loop and process of merging of image data in order to improve image segmentation is presented.
