We present with ScatterPlug a plug-in oriented framework for the Embedded Sensor Boards (ESBs) of our WSN platform ScatterWeb on the basis of Eclipse. Apart from basic services, like programming and configuration of sensor nodes, ScatterPlug also provides more complex services, such as emulation and modeling of deployed Wireless Sensor Networks in the object oriented paradigm, the statistic oriented analysis of the WSN environment as well as the visualization of the analyzed WSN data and the state of the individual sensors. The ScatterPlug?s novel approach lies in that the services can be accessed locally as well as remotely through the internet.

As a result of its interactive and visual oriented design, ScatterPlug is especially suitable for research and education. ScatterPlug is based entirely on open source components. The plug-in oriented architecture eases the enhancement of the framework, in order to allow the exploration of newly arisen issues regarding WSN.
