An on-line instruction/learning environment developed to support individualized learning in java programming is presented in this paper. The instruction/learning environment employs an online java compiler to provide the students an online learning environment for java anytime and anywhere. Furthermore, the instruction/learning environment provides an active agent to monitor and manage the students learning.
