IPv6 Calls for a New Type of the Internet Applications and Services Provider (IASP)
Silicon Valley, California, USA
July 16-July 18
ISBN: 0-7695-2622-5
Peter Sherbin, FSA Fellow

The main purpose of this document is to engage investors into aggressive support for IPv6. The paper calls for a new type of the Internet Applications and Services Provider (IASP) that would utilize IPv6, mobility and sensor networks. It shows the new entity advantages in seizing IPv6 opportunity compared to a traditional ISP. It further argues why the business market will lead wide IPv6 adoption immediately transferring realized benefits onto consumers. The paper is supported by a business case that includes financial projections and a sample service description with IPv6 Addressing schema and bandwidth requirements.

To the best of our knowledge utilizing IPv6 addresses for purposes outlined here has been tested neither in a lab nor in a production environment. To mitigate risks inherited into a new modus operandi the business case and the service description both reflect realities of a mature multi million IPv4 Internet Access implementation at a traditional Tier 2 ISP.
