Though SMAC achieves energy efficiency by reducing idle listening, it is not adaptive to the traffic changes. More- over, it is not secure against DoS attacks. In this paper, we propose a new protocol called OSASMAC (Opportunistic Secure Adaptive Sensor MAC). In OSASMAC, two nodes fix the appointment for scheduling a data exchange, while all other nodes sleep. In addition to keep the energy efficiency as the primary goal, the protocol has designed to be secure through adaptive sleep-wakeup schedules.
