We have proposed a compound hearing aid processing for the sensory hearing impaired previously. The processing is based on a speech analysis and synthesis model and enables its user to make use of a few kinds of hearing aid processing selectively or simultaneously according to his/her impairment level. At present, such a processing includes the spectral compression, the pitch conversion and the speech rate control. In this paper, we propose a new type of speech rate control(SRC) method and describe on three kinds of processing mode in the SRC: a global SRC mode(GS mode), a local SRC mode(LS mode), and a hybrid SRC mode(HS mode). By combining the proposed SRC with the compound hearing aid, it is expected that the compound hearing impaired with presbycusis can also use this hearing aid.
