Abstract: A general architecture for distributed third generation surveillance systems is discussed. In particular an approach for selecting the optimal distribution of intelligence (task allocation) is presented. The introduction of recognition tasks which can cause the interruption of the processing and transmission flow is discussed. Experimental results over a simulated system illustrate the presented approach for optimal distribution of intelligence.
