Several automated tools are currently available to support both system engineering and cost estimation activities. While data generated and used by these tools has been shored between the two disciplines, there has generally been a minimal degree of integration between the tools used by system engineers and cost estimators. The paper outlines the software design approach for integrating cost estimation capability with the systems engineering tools developed under the Engineering of Complex Systems Block Program. A high level description of the software architecture is provided as well as an application of the software to a realistic example system.
