In this paper we present our approach to model and simulate signal transduction pathways as discrete event systems by means of Live Sequence Charts (LSCs) and the Play-Engine tool. To reach this goal we conceptu- ally mapped signal transduction pathways to LSCs and developed an integrated software architecture to generate pathways as discrete event models automatically out of the database.
