This paper focuses on a relationship between factors of a bad visibility and driver?s behavior, for example, driver tend to keep a long distance when a large preceding truck that blocks driver?s frontal view and a long following distance. This driving characteristic was analyzed to build a driver?s model. This driver?s model including this driving characteristic was developed and validated in an actual ACC system by emulating this behavior by using this model and a recognition sensor that detects the size of the preceding vehicle.
