Fourth International Conference Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR'97)
An Object/Segment Oriented Skew-Correction Technique for Document Images
Ulm, GERMANY
August 18-August 20
ISBN: 0-8186-7898-4
Majdi Ben Hadj Ali, German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence
An innovative new skew correction technique is presented. The method is not pixel oriented as the most classical techniques, but is object/segment oriented. It does not suppose a unique text orientation in the document image and can handle document images including "text" blocks with different orientations. It is very efficient in the sense that only the relevant data/information is rotated: the connected components using their contour descriptions.
