Fourth International Conference Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR'97) An Object/Segment Oriented Skew-Correction Technique for Document Images Ulm, GERMANY August 18-August 20 ISBN: 0-8186-7898-4
An innovative new skew correction technique is presented. The method is not pixel oriented as the most classical techniques, but is object/segment oriented. It does not suppose a unique text orientation in the document image and can handle document images including "text" blocks with different orientations. It is very efficient in the sense that only the relevant data/information is rotated: the connected components using their contour descriptions.
