The experience of playing a computer game depends on how well the action can capture players? attention. Sometimes people immerse into the game environment so strongly that they forget their actual physical surroundings. In this paper, we introduce a physical running fitness system in the networked virtual environment-VE, which aims at making the exercise session more motivating and rich in experiences. We present a body-driven virtual human animation method, which can make the virtual human more lifelike and can improve the interactive sense of exercise. The networked physical running fitness system is a combination of an ellipse machine, a computer and a screen. Our first generation prototype system supports four users to race in Local Area Network-LAN environment.
