Almost all existing learning objects systems and adaptive hypermedia systems are meant to function in closed environments. To open those systems, we need to respect a common formalism that guarantees interoperability. The Open Hypermedia System Community proposes the Fundamental Open Hypermedia Modelling formalism to tackle this issue. In this paper we will show how, by using the FOHM formalism for resource and user modelling, we are capable of opening our already defined reference model for learning objects system (Lausanne Model).
