Rapid developments in technology are presenting challenges to educational systems and programs in both their curricular content and pedagogies. As a consequence, programs for preparing educational technologists have to address a wide range of objectives and engage students who may have diverse backgrounds and subject interests. Drawing on our experience in developing such curricular themes and systems, the panel will raise issues for discussion which can include: (i) What curricular structures are needed? (ii) How does one get from new curriculum topics to programmatic learning activities? (iii) How can curricula accommodate flexibility in approaches to learning and teaching? (iv) What are appropriate models of assessment of student competencies? And (v) How might curricular changes affect support environments, institutions, and accreditation schemes?
