Madhumita Bhattacharya, Massey University, New Zealand
In the present study we have created an environment to foster meaningful learning through Problem Based Learning (PBL). Educators have realized that for students to be successful in the twenty first century they need to be lifelong learners. Helping them to develop the skills necessary to become lifelong learners requires a different approach to teaching and learning. The process involves students working together towards common goals, teachers acting as 'experts', coaches and facilitators - allowing students to be autonomous learners. What is technology's role in this movement? The author emphasizes that it is supporting both teachers and students by providing environment, various communication and mind mapping tools and the place for students to 'put it all together' to share with other students, parents, and the world.
