Distance education involves providing formal education in a distance. Distance education is provided using different media and using different models. This paper outlines a distance education model that was developed to deliver distance education to island communities in Maldives. The distance education model described in this paper was designed for Maldives. The model is based on a three layered approach which does not require students Internet connectivity. This paper introduces an enhancement to this model using mobile technology. The enhancement will reduce the amount time taken to receive feedback from teachers. In addition, it removes an additional layer in the model.
