In this work the problem of hiding the heterogeneity and distribution of e-learning systems in global learning networks is analyzed. Ideally, the learner should be able to access all the virtual universities and e-learning systems in a similar way. Further, the learning network should provide an effective and easily used learners? interface. Achieving these goals set requirements on the architectures of learning networks and on the metadata attached to learning objects.
