The object/components programming paradigm has proven to be a good approach for application development, extension and maintenance because of its modular nature. This modular component-based approach can also be applied to design of large software suites.

This paper presents a new component-based approach for the OSCAR cluster toolkit. The enhancements outlined seek to provide a unified framework for development and maintenance, the OSCAR Component Architecture (OCA).
