Utility provisioning, Grid resource management, instant copy kiosks, and network transfers provide an exciting new paradigm for data warehouse functions. Grid technologies are fast becoming THE approach for utility computing. This enables on demand provisioning to be based on the utility model where resources use is based on requirements specified in a contract. In this paper, a contract-based workflow management system relating to demand use of a Grid enabled data warehouse with flexible scheduling algorithms is proposed that allows for selective application of rule systems in order to balance between requirements to minimize execution cost while meeting deadlines for providing or processing information.
