This paper presents the results of a probabilistic assessment of Northeast Power Coordinating Council (NPCC) Area Interconnection Reliability Benefits for the year 2006. The annual NPCC Area Interconnection Reliability Benefits were estimated for the five NPCC Control Areas: Ontario, Qu?bec, New England, New York and the Maritime Provinces. General Electric's Muti-Area Reliability Simulation (MARS) program was used for the analysis. The results of this assessment were compared with the assumptions used by the NPCC Area's when demonstrating their compliance with the NPCC Basic Criteria. A recommendation for additional study was also identified.
