In China, trying to make software fit the prevailing management system is common practice. However, the director of a machine building factory decided to make his management system fit MRP-11. As a result of implementing this management software, the firm's production and market response time improved considerably. It is suggested that the diffusion of such practices may become a way to save state-owned enterprises.
