A Spatial Decision Support System for Citrus Management ?? A Case Study of the Three Gorges Area of China
Wuhan, China
July 04-July 05
ISBN: 978-0-7695-3682-8
Geographic information system technology has been applied to manage and analyze the citrus production information in the Three Gorges area of China. Massive information related to citrus production management including spatial and non-spatial data are collected from different sources. Taking account of the demands of different end users, the data sets are organized at three scales, i.e. municipality, county and orchard levels. Three geodatabases are created to store and integrate digital data sets in heterogeneous formats. Finally, a user-friendly interface spatial decision support system is developed based on the object-oriented Visual Basic 6.0 and ArcGIS Engine. The architecture of data organization and management developed in this project can be readily transplanted to other locations.
