This paper presents Web service-oriented enterprise architecture to support access of authorized physicians, pharmacists, and patients to prescription management system via mobile devices and Web browsers on a 24x7 basis. The paper also presents our demonstration prototype of the prescription management system using J2ME Web services. The key functions implemented in the demonstration prototype include detecting drug interactions and issuing a warning to prescribing physician to prevent health-threatening drug interactions, validating prescriptions, processing prescriptions from prescribing physician's office to pharmacy of patient's choice, managing drug knowledge-base, managing drug inventory, and processing bills.
