We study the performance of grid-based PDE.Mart. Several service protocols are investigated. The unsatisfactory performance is observed for grid-based PDE.Mart using the default RPC service protocol. To improve the efficiency, we present other approaches based on the protocol of message service with byte stream serialization and the protocol of RPC with SOAP attachment service. An adaptive hybrid approach is further proposed so that the system is also scalable with respect to the grid architecture, as well as capable of solving large scale problems.
