This paper presents a work related to mobile device technology and advanced network and multi-user services support. Using a generic communication framework, we can connect different mobile devices to servers and provide users with a variety of services. This paper shows a specific application, called MobiPortrait, as an example in which mobile users can request an analysis and processing of images captured with their handheld device. The main goal is to offer users a variety of services on mobile devices that are nominally only available on stationary machines.
