Since 2002, the IEEE Computer Society has offered a Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) examination for people who have had at least 9,000 hours of experience working as a software professional. Now, IEEE-CS is considering the development of an examination targeted towards students graduating with a baccalaureate degree in software engineering or the equivalent. Nicknamed "CSDP Junior", a certification title such as "Certified Software Development Associate" (CSDA) is more likely.
