The web service of Electronic Nautical Chart (ENC) data confirmed to Vector Chart Format (VCF) is not completely supported by ArcIMS, because of its special data format and complicated nautical symbol. This paper proposes a new web system for ENC Service. In order to fulfill the specialized visualization, this system adopts MapObjects to extend ArcIMS's symbol, and then distributes ENC data by ArcIMS and ArcSDE. The method presented by this paper decreases the difficulty of software development and shortens the period of software development. To validate the feasibility of proposed system, this paper implements a prototype system.
