This paper introduces a computationally efficient parallel interference cancellation (PIC) receiver to reduce the complexity of the multiuser detectors for asynchronous code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems. The complexity is reduced by employing the proposed energy activation functions (EAF). All the results are measures of the bit error rate (BER). Performance of the proposed algorithm in both the AWGN and the multipath environment is presented. Comparisons are made between the proposed PIC algorithm, the conventional PIC and the conventional matched filter receiver.
