The determination of gestacional age in newborn children is fundamental to the evaluation of their survival possibilities. In many cases, when the qualified prenatal attendance is not done the evaluation pos-birth of the gestational age becomes the only alternative. This paper presents a medical image retrieval system of medical images achievement, whose goal is to help the confirmation of a new method (called FootScan) to gestational age determination, through the digital image of the dematoglyphics from the plantar region of the newborn. The system includes a level of knowledge, associated to the database, wich stores information from the patients, image features and their logical relationships.
